Spot Lighting
With years of experience designing residential spot lighting systems across Toronto, Mississauga, and Oakville – we create custom uplighting and accent lighting plans that make your property look genuinely different after dark.
Landscape Spot Lighting
Highlight What Matters, Without Overlighting Your Toronto Home
Many Toronto homeowners invest thousands in landscaping, stone work, and architecture, only for everything to disappear the moment the sun goes down.
Landscape spot lighting brings that investment back to life after dark. Focused beams highlight trees, facades, stonework, and garden features with precision, creating depth and intention without harsh glare or washed-out brightness.
At BD Lights, we design custom low-voltage spot lighting systems for homes across Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, and Burlington. Every system starts with a nighttime walkthrough, because spot lighting that looks perfect on paper only works when it is designed after dark on your actual property.
Understanding the Technique
What Is Spot Lighting?
Spot lighting is a targeted outdoor lighting technique that uses focused beams to highlight specific features in your landscape or on your home. Unlike flood lighting, which spreads light broadly, spot lights are designed to direct attention with precision.
Installed at ground level and aimed upward or across surfaces, spot lights create contrast and depth by illuminating vertical elements such as trees, stonework, columns, or architectural details. The result is a layered, high-end look that feels natural – never harsh or overdone.

Trees & Landscape Features
Uplighting mature trees and focal landscaping adds height and dimension, making outdoor spaces feel larger and more visually engaging at night.
Architectural Details & Facades
Spot lighting highlights stone walls, columns, textured siding, and entryway features, enhancing curb appeal while keeping the lighting subtle .
Gardens & Feature Areas
Instead of lighting everything evenly, spot lighting creates intentional focal points – drawing attention to plants, sculptures, or design elements.

Better Together
How Spot Lighting Works With Other Lighting Styles
Spot lighting is most effective when used as part of a layered lighting design. Rather than standing alone, it works in harmony with other lighting styles to create depth and cohesion.
Pathway Lighting
Provides safe, functional illumination along walkways while spot lighting adds vertical emphasis nearby.
Deck & Fence Lighting
Ambient lighting defines the space, while spot lighting highlights trees, screens, or architectural elements beyond it.
How bright is spot lighting?
Spot lighting is designed for focus, not flood-level brightness. The intensity is carefully selected to highlight features without causing glare or washing out surrounding areas. Our spotlights are 4W, which is just enough to highlight features without over-flooding the light.
How long does spot lighting installation take?
Most installations can be completed within a day, depending on the number of fixtures and design complexity. Larger or more detailed designs may take longer, which is discussed in advance.
Will installation damage my lawn or landscaping?
No. We use careful installation techniques to minimize disruption. Wiring is buried discreetly and restored cleanly so your landscape maintains its appearance.
Is spot lighting suitable for Ontario weather?
Yes. Our fixtures are designed for year-round outdoor use and perform reliably through temperature changes, moisture, and seasonal conditions.
